TAYLOR PAGE

Taylor Page is a professional Tenor Drummer & instructor based in Hamilton, ON, Canada. She played for and led the Monster Mid Section of the Grade 1 78th Fraser Highlanders from 2013 to 2019.

Taylor started drumming in 2006 with the Grade 5 Dundas Pipes and Drums, moved to the Grade 3 Paris/Port Dover Pipe Band in 2012 before joining The Frasers the next season. Beyond the competition circle, Taylor also played as a civilian with the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders of Canada (Princess Louise's) from 2010 to 2014.
Taylor's solo drumming career began in 2010. She upgraded quickly to Professional by 2013, winning her first North American and Champion Supreme titles that year through 2016.
Her origins as a teacher began with Highland Dance. An 11-year competitor herself, she naturally gravitated towards helping other aspiring dancers. Her obsession with gaining a greater understanding of different learning styles and processes has resulted in tremendous success for her hundreds of dancing and drumming students over the years.
She currently teaches students from across North America, and now worldwide via the Rhythm Monster Pipe Band Tenor Drum Tutor. Her private students range in ability from beginner to advanced and range in age from 10 to 75. Congratulations on being Taylor’s latest tutor student!

What Monster Tenor Drummers have to say...

Tanya C.

Victoria, Australia

Taylor and the Monster team have done a fantastic job providing learners with a multitude of perspectives— including lots of different filming angles— as we all learn in different ways. Each lesson is easy to follow and understand, as they are made to accommodate various playing levels. Even as an experienced player myself, this tutor is giving me new ways to expand my tenor drumming!

Kim A.

California, USA

I found my way to pipe bands much later than most, which was a few years before I found Rhythm Monster. They've been so helpful and inspiring to keep me playing, and now this tutor from Taylor has given me all of the basics and fundamentals that I always wanted to learn from the beginning. Thank you to Taylor and the Monster Team for making such a detailed and thorough explanation of literally anything I would ever need to know about flourishing and making MUSIC on the Tenor Drum!

Gale W.

Winnipeg, Canada

Winnipeg has a small pipe band community and finding midsection instruction is a challenge at times. I have encourage all members of our drum corp to use Rhythm Monster, now even more so with this amazing tutor. Taylor does a great job of breaking everything down and explaining it clearly. There is enough content to appeal to any beginner or intermediate player. We've got what we need to become even more Monster now!

What Monster Instructors have to say...

Derek Rose

Grade 1 Johnstone Pipe Band

Another fantastic learning resource from the Monster team! Pipe Band Tenor Drumming is a unique musical art in Percussion and having an online teaching program that helps every stage of player, from learner to Grade 1, is outstanding. You can clearly see a lot of time, effort and passion has gone into this program and I know its a program everyone will enjoy. Learners should not miss this, and it's a resource I'll use when teaching our next generation of top players. Highly recommended for anyone looking to be a Monster Tenor Drummer and/or teacher!

Justin Ball

DMA Candidate: Percussion, Florida State U.

Full disclosure: I was the lead editor for this series. I wanted to take it on because I wanted to learn what Pipe Band Tenor Drumming was all about. I knew the flourishing was unique and cool, but I had NO idea it was so demanding and musical! Taylor is a world-class educator, and I honestly can't imagine a better curriculum for this instrument. I recommend this tutor to anyone, anywhere of any musical experience level who wants to learn what this artform is all about. I can't wait to hear about Pipe Band Drummers taking advantage of this truly Monster tutor.

Eilidh Wynd

Instructor, National Youth Pipe Band of Scotland

Taylor is amazing and a real inspiration of mine! It's so difficult to get younger players to focus on the right things. They always want to get to the hard flourishes without really understanding the basics. Taylor's tutor walks you through everything you need, step-by-step, class-by-class, and doesn't miss a thing! I love all the exercises and little jams they made to learn and practice every flourish and every rhythm. Big Monster smile from me: Sassy Singles team for life!
